In a possible but fictional plot, Bleue comme Mars considers the daily life of Val, a morose although rebellious archivist, at the moment when her world turns upside down. Through the very real testimonies of great French specialists on the red planet, this documentary-fiction retraces sixty years of a rich and fruitful scientific adventure, from the sending of the first American probes to the recent results from the Curiosity robot.
